Welcome to 2017 crew.
That’s me back in the bay after another visit to the Hawaiian islands with a bunch of new ideas and concepts to progress Webster Surfboards. During my stay in Hawaii, I was lucky enough to get two mid-size swells and ride a few waves at Waimea Bay, one of the most amazing and beautiful line-ups in the World.
This season in Hawaii saw an all-round increase in board volumes in big wave boards. Surfers are more than ever embracing the increase in foam and ability to paddle into larger waves.
This year my focus is to further increase the volumes of my step-up and gun range with flattened, double-concaved decks. I have previously introduced the Magneto Deck idea into my fish boards with great results.
Stay tuned with more info to come soon.
Webster Team Hawaii 2015
With a El Nino Winter about to get a real kicks to start, we’ve pieced together some of the Webster Teams sessions from early 2015. Here Zac Wightman and Nate Behl show off their talent on both the Napalm model for Nate and the Atom model for Zac.
This sequence is of Nate Behl at Off The Wall, Hawaii earlier this year. Nate rode the Napalm model this season in Hawaii, it’s his go-to model in larger waves. Stay tuned for more pics from Nate on his up-coming Indo adventures. Pics by Greg Panas
Nate Behl North Shore
Nate Behl doing his thing on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Nate rides the Napalm model in this clip after becoming a fan of this model last year in his travels through the Mentawaii Islands, Indonesia. Stay tuned for more of Nates adventures soon.
Team rider Zac Wightman enjoyed a recent trip to the North Shore of Oahu and scored some epic Pipe barrels. He stayed at the Quiksilver house while competing at the Sunset Beach Junior event and had come back to OZ with some valued Hawaiian experience. Thanx for testing out the Atom and Lenny the Ox models out over there mate, I’m glad they did the job.
The 11th of November was opening day at Jaws this season and it hasn’t disappointed. I’ve seen Twig catch some big waves before, but this was a monster! Just off the plane from surfing in Europe, Twig grabbed his fresh batch of Webster Guns and this was his first surf on the new 10’0 x 21 3/4 x 4, stoked it worked. View the video footage here. Check out the TWIG board model here.
Hawaii was awesome, now back to the shaping bay for me. I had a great trip and scored tonnes of swell, but in mostly stormy conditions. The pic above is at Waimea Bay on the 26.01.14 and was definitely one to remember. So it was great to get a bigger wave fix again, and now bring on Autumn at home. Photo – thanx Christian.
What can you say about this footage? The level of Big Wave Riding in this clip is out of this World! It’s amazing what guys are paddling into at the moment and how much the wave size has increased. Enjoy..
Congrats on the Eddie invite Twig, there’s definitely no greater honour in the Big Wave world. Now, pray for waves.
